Liverpool have opened new contract talks with Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds are keen to reward the Brazilian attacker for the outstanding form he has produced so far this term and also to fend off potential suitors .

Coutinho, whose current contract runs until 2020, has blossomed into arguably the club’s biggest asset and the lucrative deal will reflect both his importance and influence.

The gifted 24-year-old, who has scored six goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season, has been heavily linked with Barcelona, but Liverpool are determined to do everything they can to retain his services.

The 24-year-old joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013 under the management of Brendan Rodgers and quickly established himself as a first-team regular under the Northern Irishman
