Real Madrid’s injury list is becoming more frustrating for coach Zinedine Zidane with both Luka Modric and Marcelo now out for between the three and four weeks.
Both players, who were crocked in the match against Malaga, are waiting for the official confirmation from medical tests on Monday.
Marcelo had to leave Saturday’s match against Malaga after pulling his hamstring early in the game, while Modric’s problems didn’t look as serious but reports from Spain indicate that he’ll have to miss a month as well.
Pepe, Gareth Bale, Carvajal and James are injured at the moment, leaving Real Madrid a depleted squad.
It is very hard to be competitive in La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey with such a thin squad like the one Zidane has at his disposal.
However, the Frenchman already knows that he can’t count on them for the next few fixtures.
Cristiano Ronaldo will also be examined by club staff due to a wound on his hand and a blow received during Saturday’s game.
Thus, the scenario is getting more complicated especially for the match against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Real need to reverse a 2-1 deficit to make the Copa del Rey semi-final and they’ll also have to do without Dani Carvajal, Pepe and Gareth Bale for that one.
