Gunners chief worried he could lose star players if contracts aren’t agreed and will move for Borussia Dortmund duo instead
ARSENE WENGER is considering a double whammy on Borussia Dortmund for Marco Reus and Christian Pulisic over fears he will lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners stars have yet to agree new deals at Arsenal – both demanding £200,000 per week to stay.
But talks on both new deals have stalled and Sanchez has been offered £400,000 a week to move to the Chinese Super League.
Ozil, meanwhile, has hinted he would be tempted by a return to Real Madrid having cost a club record £42.5million when he left Spain.
Arsenal boss Wenger has given no assurances on the prospect of either player remaining at the Emirates.
He has even suggested that rather than be sold they will be made to see out the remaining 18 months of their contracts.
Reus and Pulisic, meanwhile, are on the Frenchman’s radar as replacements and Dortmund face a fight to keep the pair.
Their hopes of taking the Bundesliga title have faltered with a succession of draws going into the winter shut–down.
Winger Reus is also wanted by Jurgen Klopp – having signed the 27 year old from Borussia Monchengladbach for Dortmund four years ago.
Pulisic, however, is the main target. Dortmund are desperate for him to sign a new long–term contract although they are yet to confirm they have been successful in tying him down to a new deal.
Director of Football Michael Zorc said : “There have been some offers for him in the summer window from England and from German clubs.
“But we would like to have him here and develop him here. We did not educate him to sell him.”
